活動回顧:Lantau International School Green Week - 農場參觀及體驗活動 Farm Tour & Farm Experience

Lantau International School的學生們有幸參加了由我們生態保育協會主辦的農場參觀及體驗活動。這不僅是一次走進大自然的機會，更是一次深刻的環保學習之旅，讓學生們實際了解如何以可持續的方式愛護我們的地球。

Recently, during the Green Week at Lantau International School, students had the opportunity to join the Farm Tour & Farm Experience organized by the ECA. This was more than just a day in nature; it was a meaningful environmental learning journey where students gained hands-on experience in sustainable practices and developed a deeper connection with the Earth.

探索農場，認識酵素耕作

Exploring the Farm and Understanding Enzyme Farming

活動一開始，導師帶領學生們走進我們的農場，介紹了農場內的各種作物和我們獨特的酵素耕作方法。學生們對酵素耕作的理解從“食物是如何生長的”這個問題開始，並逐步學會如何利用酵素來改善土壤質量，增強作物健康，實現無化學肥料和農藥的可持續農業。

The day began with a guided tour of our farm in Pui O, where the instructor introduced the unique enzyme farming methods used on our farm. Students learned how enzyme farming helps improve soil quality and enhance crop health without relying on chemical fertilizers and pesticides, embracing sustainable agricultural practices.

實踐廚餘堆肥，學會減少浪費

Practicing Food Waste Composting and Learning Waste Reduction

隨後，學生們親身體驗了廚餘堆肥技術，學習如何將日常生活中的廚餘轉化為有價值的堆肥，並了解這一過程對改善土壤質量的重要性。他們還學到了如何將廚餘減少到源頭，並探索生活中各種減少廢物和回收的方法。我們亦與香港大學研究生合作，從南大嶼山的餐廳收集咖啡渣，並將其轉化為農場堆肥的一部分，這正是我們“轉廢為寶”的實踐。

Next, the students engaged in a hands-on activity where they learned the process of food waste composting. They discovered how everyday kitchen waste can be transformed into valuable compost, contributing to improved soil health. This part of the experience also taught them about waste reduction at the source and various ways to incorporate recycling into their daily lives. Additionally, we have partnered with students from the University of Hong Kong to collect coffee grounds from South Lantau restaurants, which are then used as part of our farm composting process, embodying our “Turning Waste into Treasure” initiative.

愛護大自然，感受環保的力量

Loving Nature and Experiencing the Power of Environmental Conservation

在農場的最後，學生們共同參與了清理環境的活動。他們清理農場周圍的垃圾，並學習如何保持周圍環境的整潔和健康。這一環節不僅讓孩子們認識到環境清潔的重要性，更讓他們實際體驗到每一個小小的行動，如何能對地球產生積極的影響。

At the end of the day, students took part in a clean-up activity, where they helped to clear the surrounding area of litter. They learned the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment and gained a sense of empowerment through their actions, realizing how even small efforts can have a big impact on the planet.

Student Reflections: Green Living Starts Young

學生們對這次活動的反應熱烈，紛紛表示自己不僅學到了很多關於農業、環保和減廢的知識，還體會到了與自然和諧共生的重要性。許多學生都表示回到學校後會將這些知識應用到日常生活中，並且鼓勵家庭和朋友也一同參與這場綠色運動。

The students’ response was overwhelmingly positive. They expressed that they had not only learned a great deal about agriculture, environmental protection, and waste reduction, but also gained a greater appreciation for living in harmony with nature. Many students mentioned that they would apply what they had learned to their daily lives and encourage their families and friends to join in this green movement.

這次的生態農莊參觀及農場體驗活動，不僅讓學生們收穫滿滿的知識和經驗，也讓他們深刻理解了環保生活的真正意義。生態保育協會將繼續為學校、機構和社區提供類似的教育活動，攜手大家共同推動綠色、可持續的生活方式。

This Ecological Farm Tour & Farm Experience was not only an educational experience for the students but also a reminder of the real meaning of green living. ECA will continue to offer similar educational activities for schools, organizations, and communities, working together to promote sustainable, eco-friendly lifestyles.
